Because of their rough surface, concrete roof tiles cannot offer the same visual appeal as clay tiles. Or can they? Much has changed in recent years. Manufacturers are developing ever smoother and glossier coatings. We can choose standard coatings, coatings with a slight sheen, and very smooth finishes with even deeper colour and gloss.
In its range, Braas offers concrete roof tiles with a Cisar coating. This distinctive three-layer technology provides a smooth surface and a deep, lasting colour with a glossy finish. Increased frost resistance and resistance to water absorption are additional benefits, allowing the manufacturer to boast maximum tile strength.
SwissporTON, meanwhile, supplies tiles with its best coating, Duratop Pro. This responds to today’s clients’ expectations. The tile looks very good, with a smooth, durable surface and intense colour. Its smooth surface helps it retain its functional and aesthetic qualities for a long time.
These premium coatings are available for wave-profile roof tiles. Matt colours are preferred for modern buildings, so both manufacturers mainly offer such colours for their flat tiles. One exception is the flat tile Teviva Cisar crystal grey. This colour corresponds to colours previously available in the clay tile range. The tile shimmers as though coated in glitter paint. The roof’s appearance changes strikingly with the time of day and the angle of the light.
