You can already picture your home. You know what the façade will look like, where the table will go and which window will overlook the garden. Now it is time to choose the roof. It needs to suit the house, last for years and fit your budget.

But where do you start when every quote looks different and everyone recommends something else?

This is where a good adviser helps: putting information in order, explaining the differences and guiding you through each decision. At AMBIT, that is how we begin – with a conversation about your home, plans and possibilities.

Let us take Marek as an example. His is an illustrative story of someone buying his first roof and facing questions much like yours.

First he wanted to choose a colour. Then he saw two quotes

Marek had a house design and a graphite-coloured roof tile in mind. He thought he simply needed to find a good price and order the materials.

The first quote was noticeably cheaper. Only when he compared the items did he realise that the scope differed too. One included accessories, delivery and pallets. In the other, some of those costs would be agreed later.

The cheaper quote might still have been good value. But first he needed to check the price of the same materials on the same terms.

The price of a roof tile matters. Your budget, however, depends on the full scope of the purchase.

At AMBIT, we help you clarify that scope. We select the covering and necessary components to suit the design, explain their purpose and discuss delivery and unloading costs. If you already have another quote, we can review its scope with you so you know what you are actually comparing.

A roof should look good. What goes underneath matters just as much

Marek began asking about the exact tile model, underlay membrane and details around chimneys. He realised that products with a similar appearance could have different specifications and requirements for use.

A finished roof is seen as a whole, but it is purchased as a set of components that work together. The covering, layers beneath it, ventilation, windows and drainage all need to be compatible.

You do not need to learn every specification yourself. That is what a conversation with an adviser is for. We help you choose materials to suit the design, appearance you want and budget. We explain the differences between solutions so the choice makes sense beyond the catalogue.

Good materials need a good roofer

Marek’s next step was choosing a roofer. Instead of relying on photos alone, he asked about previous projects, the scope of work and written arrangements. He wanted to know who would build the roof, when they could start and what the agreed price included.

That is a sensible way to begin working together. Good materials and careful workmanship are needed together.

If you are looking for a team, AMBIT can help you find a roofer among the contractors we work with. If you already have one, we can discuss the material schedule and deliveries together. It is worth agreeing the scope, timing and terms of the work with the team before it begins.

A good plan includes delivery day

Marek had chosen his materials and roofer. He still needed to arrange when the goods would arrive, how the vehicle would access the site and where the pallets could be unloaded safely.

These details are easy to put off because they do not appear in a picture of your dream home. On site, they soon prove important.

With your AMBIT adviser, you discuss product availability, the delivery date and unloading arrangements. We can plan delivery by a truck with a loading crane, taking site access and conditions into account. Before ordering, it is also worth agreeing pallet charges and settlement, any returns and additional orders.

Before ordering, make sure the arrangements are clear

Marek placed the quote, his arrangements with the roofer and the warranty terms side by side. He was not looking for problems. He wanted to know what he was buying and whom to contact with questions.

It is worth doing the same. Check:

  • which products and quantities the quote covers;
  • which costs relate to materials and which to transport, unloading and pallets;
  • the agreed dates and payment terms;
  • what the manufacturer’s warranty covers and what is agreed with the contractor;
  • which documents you will receive and who your contact will be.

Keep the order confirmation, purchase and payment records, and warranty documentation. If anything is unclear, ask for an explanation before deciding.

Your roof is a decision you don’t want to make twice.

That’s why it helps to have someone by your side from the start – someone who can help you choose materials, understand the quote and plan the next steps. At AMBIT, that’s where we begin.

Your first roof can begin with an unhurried conversation

At first, Marek simply wanted to buy graphite-coloured tiles. In time, he realised he also needed a clear quote, a delivery plan and people he could communicate with.

That is the cooperation we offer at AMBIT. We help you move from an idea to selected materials and a prepared order. We explain what matters and plan the next steps with you.
