Electrotile eTile Step – solar metal roofing with a horizontal profile
Distinct horizontal bands give the roof a calm rhythm, while integrated PV modules generate energy. eTile Step allows both functions to be included in a single roofing design.
- Metal roofing with a horizontal, stepped layout
- Photovoltaics integrated into the roof modules
- Complementary components for planning areas without cells
eTile Step combines metal roofing with a horizontal, stepped pattern and integrated photovoltaics. It is a BIPV system for building owners and developers who want a roof with distinctive geometry. Its appearance comes from repeating bands, unlike the vertical lines of eTile Flat and the traditional profile of eTile Classic.
The system includes active modules, manufacturer-designated “half” modules and inactive components. Energy generation can therefore be planned where it makes sense, while the remaining areas of the roof can be completed with roofing without cells. Planning modules around windows, chimneys and roof edges requires attention to the system dimensions and flashing details. Colour should also be part of the selection: compare the specifications for the particular version chosen.
Consider the system for a new building or when replacing the roof covering. The manufacturer also presents the option of continuing the design onto the façade, which requires separate detailing in the project. Send an AMBIT adviser your plan and the look you want for the building. We will discuss how to combine your choice of roofing material with your home's energy needs.

Frequently asked questions
Is Step a ceramic roof tile?
No. It is a metal roofing system with integrated photovoltaics. Here, the word tile refers to the form of the covering, rather than fired ceramic.
Does the choice of colour change the installation's specifications?
Colour must be taken into account when selecting modules. Do not assume that all versions have the same output: compare the data for the specific variant and use these as the basis for the electrical design and estimated energy generation.
Is the system suitable for a roof with many windows?
Suitability is assessed using a roof plan. The “half” module variants and inactive components help arrange the covering, but numerous obstructions affect module placement, flashings and the installation's potential.
When is the best time to choose eTile Step?
Before ordering the roof covering and carrying out the installation. An early decision allows the roof geometry, details, cable routing and electrical design to be coordinated, rather than adapted after roofing work is complete.

How we check reviews: we publish reviews confirmed by their authors via a link sent to their email address, no later than 24 hours after confirmation (during this time we may check them). Reviews containing links or contact details, and all photos, are checked before publication. The ‘Verified purchase’ label appears only on reviews whose author sent us proof of purchase of this product and where we confirmed the purchase at Ambit or at another wholesaler. Other reviews are not checked for a purchase. The average includes all published reviews, verified and unverified. We do not pay for reviews and we do not remove reviews because they are negative. We prepare translations of reviews ourselves and mark them; the original is always available. Details: Review terms.
