Electrotile eTile Fusion – photovoltaics for an existing standing seam roof
Want to keep your roof covering and add photovoltaics? eTile Fusion is designed for installation on an existing standing seam roof, once its construction and compatibility with the system have been checked.
- Photovoltaics installed on the retained roof covering
- A solution designed for standing seam roofs
- Fixing compatibility and roof condition checked before selection
eTile Fusion is an option for buildings where the roof is already in place and is to be retained. The manufacturer describes the system as photovoltaics for installation on standing seam roofing. This is an important distinction from eTile Classic, Flat, Step and Karo, where photovoltaics are planned as part of a new roof covering.
The starting point is an assessment of the particular roof. The seam type and dimensions, the roofing material and its condition, the sheet metal fixings and the building's structure all matter. Compatibility cannot be established solely because vertical joints are visible on the roof. The module layout, shading, loads and electrical cable routing must also be checked.
Consider eTile Fusion if you want to add PV without immediately planning to replace the entire roof. This does not remove the need to assess whether the covering is fit for continued use. Send an AMBIT adviser photographs of the roof and seam detail, a roof plan and information about the existing covering. This will help guide the discussion about compatibility and the next steps in selecting the system.

Frequently asked questions
Does eTile Fusion replace the roof covering?
No. It is a solution for an existing roof. The condition and watertightness of the retained covering must be assessed before installation; photovoltaic modules do not repair damaged sheet metal.
Does it fit every standing seam roof, including snap-lock systems?
Universal compatibility should not be assumed. The seam type, geometry and permitted fixing method must be confirmed for the specific roof covering. The terms standing seam or snap-lock alone are not enough to select the system.
Is a structural assessment needed before installation?
Selection should account for the structure's load-bearing capacity, the sheet metal fixings and the loads at the particular location. The designer or an appropriately qualified contractor determines the scope of the assessment using the building and system documentation.
What should I send to start the selection process?
A roof plan, the project location, the name of the roof covering and any available photographs of its surface and seam. Add the roof orientation, visible obstructions and energy consumption data. Documentation for the existing roof will also be useful.

How we check reviews: we publish reviews confirmed by their authors via a link sent to their email address, no later than 24 hours after confirmation (during this time we may check them). Reviews containing links or contact details, and all photos, are checked before publication. The ‘Verified purchase’ label appears only on reviews whose author sent us proof of purchase of this product and where we confirmed the purchase at Ambit or at another wholesaler. Other reviews are not checked for a purchase. The average includes all published reviews, verified and unverified. We do not pay for reviews and we do not remove reviews because they are negative. We prepare translations of reviews ourselves and mark them; the original is always available. Details: Review terms.
