Electrotile eTile Classic – solar metal roof tiles
A roof with a traditional profile that generates solar energy. eTile Classic combines metal roofing with photovoltaic modules, allowing you to plan the roof's appearance and the PV installation as a single system.
- Profiled metal roof tiles with built-in photovoltaics
- Active and inactive components in one system
- Roofing and PV installation selected at the design stage
If you like the shape of traditional roof tiles and want to include photovoltaics when choosing your roof covering, discover eTile Classic. This is a BIPV system, or building-integrated photovoltaics. It is based on metal roof tiles with PV modules, complemented by inactive components with a matching profile. Instead of planning a roof covering and panels above it separately, you design a roof that also generates electricity.
The layout of active and inactive components can be adapted to the roof geometry. This matters around roof windows, chimneys and areas where installing photovoltaics is not justified. The modular layout helps create an orderly appearance, but suitability depends on the design: the geometry, roof pitch, shading and installation requirements.
Consider eTile Classic when building a home or replacing the entire roof covering. Selection involves both the roofing and the electrical installation. Talk to an AMBIT adviser about your project. To get started, have a roof plan, the project location and information about your expected energy consumption ready.

Frequently asked questions
Does the entire roof slope have to generate energy?
No. The system includes active and inactive components. Their layout is determined by the roof geometry, shading and electrical design, rather than an assumption that every section should have cells.
How are areas around chimneys and roof windows handled?
The modules and flashings must be laid out in the design. The manufacturer's “half” module variants help adapt the layout. Cutting and finishing must follow the manufacturer's documentation; the active section must not be cut arbitrarily.
What needs to be selected besides the roof modules?
The electrical design must include an inverter, cabling and protective devices. Battery storage is selected separately if it is included in the system configuration. Before ordering, check what is covered by the roofing quotation and what belongs to the rest of the system.
How can I compare the price with a roof and conventional PV panels?
Compare the complete scope: roof covering, flashings, supporting structure, electrical installation and labour. The price of a module or a square metre alone does not show the cost of completing an entire roof with photovoltaics.

How we check reviews: we publish reviews confirmed by their authors via a link sent to their email address, no later than 24 hours after confirmation (during this time we may check them). Reviews containing links or contact details, and all photos, are checked before publication. The ‘Verified purchase’ label appears only on reviews whose author sent us proof of purchase of this product and where we confirmed the purchase at Ambit or at another wholesaler. Other reviews are not checked for a purchase. The average includes all published reviews, verified and unverified. We do not pay for reviews and we do not remove reviews because they are negative. We prepare translations of reviews ourselves and mark them; the original is always available. Details: Review terms.
