Thermally insulated installation
Thermally insulated installation uses layered sealing around a roof window to reduce heat loss and the risk of damp at the frame. At Ambit, we install windows as a complete system: weathertight, without thermal bridges and in accordance with good roofing practice.

Thermally insulated roof window installation – weathertight, free of thermal bridges and built to last
Thermally insulated roof window installation positions a window in the roof slope to minimise heat loss and the risk of damp around the frame. In practice, it involves layered sealing of the connection between window and roof, preventing air and moisture escaping through gaps and ensuring the insulation performs consistently for many years. It is now standard in modern construction and the best method if loft comfort matters to you.
Thermally insulated installation uses three layers working together:
a sealed inner layer (vapour barrier), protecting against moisture from inside,
an insulating middle layer – usually foam or thermal insulation materials,
a vapour-permeable outer layer, protecting against water and wind while allowing moisture to escape outside.
Properly carried out thermally insulated installation:
eliminates thermal bridges around the window,
improves thermal comfort in winter and summer,
reduces the risk of condensation and damp insulation,
extends the life of the window and the whole roof structure.
At Ambit, we treat thermally insulated installation as part of a well-built roof, rather than an optional extra. We select the right flashings, insulation materials and window installation method for the particular roof covering and structure. This ensures the roof window is weathertight, stable and attractive, performing as it should for years to come.
