Every component that passes through a roof creates a point that needs to be designed and sealed. The VILPE range includes seals for round pipes, square sections, cables and other penetrations. Selection starts with the component's shape and dimensions, but must also take account of the waterproofing. Bituminous roofing, PVC membranes and profiled sheet metal each require a different solution.

The manufacturer's range includes EPDM seals for bituminous roofs, components for refurbishment work, and PVC versions joined to the appropriate roof covering by hot-air welding. There are also solutions for square sections and components covering a range of diameters. A version for an existing pipe must be selected so that its installation method suits the conditions on the roof. The material name alone does not confirm the compatibility of the complete detail.

External watertightness is only part of the task. A penetration through the vapour barrier requires its continuity to be maintained, which is the purpose of the dedicated HT and HTH seals. The manufacturer distinguishes between their heights: 33 and 133 mm. The choice should follow the roof cross-section and the routing of the services. All connections must be made in accordance with the instructions for the specific version and substrate.

Ask Ambit for help selecting this detail before making an opening or when planning a refurbishment. Send the pipe cross-section and dimensions, the roof covering type and a photo of the installation location. Also indicate whether the component can be disconnected. This will allow the appropriate seal range to be checked and a set prepared for pricing, avoiding the accidental combination of incompatible parts.

Frequently asked questions

Does a roof covering seal replace a vapour barrier seal?

No. These are different layers with different functions. The design should provide a proper connection at every level of the penetration.

What if an existing pipe cannot be disconnected?

A refurbishment version that can be fitted in the existing conditions needs to be checked. Send a photo, the pipe dimensions and the roof covering type.

Is EPDM always suitable for a PVC membrane?

A seal should not be selected solely on the flexibility of the material. The connection method must be compatible with the waterproofing system.
