VILPE AM and CM roof drains – flat roof drainage
A roof drain should suit the waterproofing and the drainage design. VILPE AM and CM are roof drain ranges with versions for bituminous roofing and PVC, among other coverings.
On a flat roof, what matters is not only how water reaches the drain, but also the watertightness of the connection between the drain and the roof covering. VILPE AM and CM roof drains allow the component to be selected to suit the waterproofing and the drainage pipe. It is worth considering them when putting together the materials, so that the diameter, flange and layer build-up form one coordinated solution. The same connection size does not necessarily mean the same application.
The AM range includes drains for bituminous roofing and versions with a PVC flange. The manufacturer offers various diameters and pipe lengths, so the specific product code must be matched to the roof cross-section. CM drains are designed for bituminous roofing; the manufacturer specifies a 150 mm wide flange and Ø 75 and Ø 110 mm versions. A protective grating is included with this range.
Drainage selection should take account of the required flow rate, roof falls and drain layout. If the drain is to be heated, the compatibility of the accessories with the selected model must also be checked. A grating that traps larger debris helps protect the pipe, but the drain still needs periodic inspection and cleaning. The design should also provide a way for water to drain if the primary outlet becomes blocked.
Send Ambit the membrane or bituminous roofing type, the drainage design and the required connection diameter. We will help identify which AM or CM version to price and which accessories to include. This is a convenient point to check that the order is complete before work on the roof begins.

Frequently asked questions
Is matching the drain to the pipe diameter enough?
The flow capacity, roof covering, pipe length and connection detail to the roof layers must also be checked. Selection should follow the drainage design.
Does every AM drain have a flange for PVC?
No. The range includes different versions. Confirm the exact version and flange material before ordering.
Does the grating remove the need to clean the drain?
No. The drain and grating need to be inspected periodically and any accumulated debris removed.

How we check reviews: we publish reviews confirmed by their authors via a link sent to their email address, no later than 24 hours after confirmation (during this time we may check them). Reviews containing links or contact details, and all photos, are checked before publication. The ‘Verified purchase’ label appears only on reviews whose author sent us proof of purchase of this product and where we confirmed the purchase at Ambit or at another wholesaler. Other reviews are not checked for a purchase. The average includes all published reviews, verified and unverified. We do not pay for reviews and we do not remove reviews because they are negative. We prepare translations of reviews ourselves and mark them; the original is always available. Details: Review terms.
