On a flat roof, fastener selection depends on the entire build-up: the roof covering, insulation thickness and structural deck. VILPE CROCO is a range of fasteners for mechanically securing roof layers. Its components work with the appropriate screws or nails, so the order should include a compatible set. Sleeve dimensions alone do not determine whether a fastener is suitable for every roof.

CROCO A is designed for securing single-ply roofing membranes. The manufacturer specifies CROCO B for rigid insulation boards and build-ups combining bituminous roofing with insulation. Both ranges offer versions for fixing to steel, timber or concrete decks when used with the correct anchoring component. The length is selected to suit the thickness of the layers and the screw or nail used.

Separate CROCO adjustable screws are also available. Their compatibility with the fastener and deck must be checked in the manufacturer's current table. This makes it easier to put together fastening systems where layer thicknesses vary, but does not replace a design. The number and layout of fixing points should follow the calculations and the roofing system documentation; for an existing deck, its properties must also be verified.

Send Ambit the deck type, the build-up and layer thicknesses, the membrane or bituminous roofing product name, and the fixing schedule specified in the design. We will help identify the range and components needed for a quotation request. If you are interested in individual clearance items, we will check them against the design. This makes it easier to order the complete system and avoid having to find missing parts during the work.

Will any screw work with a given insulation thickness?

No. The deck, anchoring method and compatibility with the fastener also need to be considered. Selection covers the complete set.

Are CROCO A and B interchangeable?

They have different applications. A is specified for single-ply membranes, while B is intended for rigid boards and bituminous roofing build-ups with insulation. The choice must match the roofing design.

How many fasteners do I need per square metre?

There is no single number that suits every roof. The quantity and layout are specified by a design that takes account of the loads and the roofing system.
