VILPE INTAKE – roof air intake
If the design calls for air to be drawn in through the roof, an intake designed for that purpose is needed. VILPE INTAKE supplies air to a mechanical ventilation system.
A roof air intake is the point at which a system draws in outdoor air. VILPE INTAKE allows this point to be positioned above the roof surface where the ventilation design calls for this arrangement. The head is designed to separate raindrops from the incoming air and minimise airflow resistance. It is a solution for the supply side of the system, so its function must be distinguished from an exhaust outlet that discharges stale air.
The 160P/IS/500 INTAKE model is designed for a Ø 160 mm duct. The manufacturer specifies an external diameter of Ø 300 mm and a height of approximately 500 mm above the roof surface. The type of roof connection should be determined in conjunction with the covering and the roof pass-through system. This ensures that both the intake and the detail for passing the duct correctly through the roof are selected together.
Matching diameters is not enough when planning the installation. The designer should take into account the required airflow rate, system resistance and the position of the intake relative to other terminals on the building. Access for inspection and the duct route through the roof layers should be established in advance. This helps avoid having to reopen the finished roof covering because a detail was not agreed beforehand.
Send Ambit the design requirements, the type of roof covering and the duct diameter. We will help you put together the appropriate set of components for a quotation enquiry and check the product variant. If you are also selecting an air exhaust outlet, specify both functions in your enquiry. This makes it easier to plan the system terminals as a whole before ordering materials and starting installation on the roof.

Frequently asked questions
Can INTAKE be used as an exhaust outlet?
This product is designed to draw air in. For exhaust, choose a component with the appropriate function and specifications.
Does Ø 160 mm mean the intake fits any air handling unit?
No. Selection must also take the design airflow and system resistance into account. A matching diameter alone does not establish that the choice is correct.
What information should I provide before ordering?
The diameter and required airflow rate, the type of roof covering, the roof pitch and the proposed intake position.

How we check reviews: we publish reviews confirmed by their authors via a link sent to their email address, no later than 24 hours after confirmation (during this time we may check them). Reviews containing links or contact details, and all photos, are checked before publication. The ‘Verified purchase’ label appears only on reviews whose author sent us proof of purchase of this product and where we confirmed the purchase at Ambit or at another wholesaler. Other reviews are not checked for a purchase. The average includes all published reviews, verified and unverified. We do not pay for reviews and we do not remove reviews because they are negative. We prepare translations of reviews ourselves and mark them; the original is always available. Details: Review terms.
