Porotherm clay floor systems
Porotherm beam-and-block floor systems consist of load-bearing elements – clay and reinforced concrete beams – and infill blocks. Porous clay gives these floors excellent performance in use. The individual floor types differ in their dimensions:
- Porotherm 23\62,5: beam centres of 62,5 cm; a 23 cm high block and 4 cm concrete topping give a structural floor thickness of 27 cm.
- Porotherm 19\62,5: beam centres of 62,5 cm; a 19 cm high block and 4 cm concrete topping give a structural floor thickness of 23 cm.
- Porotherm 15\62,5: beam centres of 62,5 cm; a 15 cm high block and 4 cm concrete topping give a structural floor thickness of 19 cm.
- Porotherm 23\50: beam centres of 50 cm; a 23 cm high block and 4 cm concrete topping give a structural floor thickness of 27 cm.
- Porotherm 19\50: beam centres of 50 cm; a 19 cm high block and 4 cm concrete topping give a structural floor thickness of 23 cm.
- Porotherm 15\50: beam centres of 50 cm; a 15 cm high block and 4 cm concrete topping give a structural floor thickness of 19 cm.
Porotherm beam and block floors – strength, speed and comfort in use
The floor is one of the most important structural elements of a house: it carries loads, absorbs sound and determines comfort in use. The Porotherm beam and block system provides all these functions in a durable form that is easy to install and compatible with the entire Porotherm system.
Key benefits of Porotherm floors
Prefabricated components shorten construction time
The beams and hollow blocks are factory-made and ready to install, eliminating the need for conventional formwork or manually laying the floor in masonry.A lighter structure, less work
The lightweight structure allows heavy reinforced concrete floors to be avoided: no full formwork, props or cranes are needed.System compatibility
Porotherm beams and hollow blocks are designed to work perfectly with other system components, such as walls, the roof and accessories. This makes design and construction easier.Good thermal and acoustic insulation properties
The special arrangement of channels in the hollow blocks supports thermal and sound insulation, contributing to thermal comfort and quiet inside the home.Design flexibility
The system allows large floor spans. Porotherm floor beams are selected according to the height of the hollow blocks and the spacing, with spans of up to 8 metres when the parameters are suitable.A uniform material on the underside
The floor has a uniform ceramic underside, making subsequent finishing work, such as plastering, much easier.
How does it work?
Prefabricated reinforced ceramic and concrete beams are incorporated into the structure.
Ceramic hollow blocks with a height matched to the beam spacing are laid between the beams.
A concrete topping is poured over the whole floor to stiffen the structure and level the surface.
The finished floor combines the benefits of ceramics and concrete: durability, insulation and load-bearing capacity.

How we check reviews: we publish reviews confirmed by their authors via a link sent to their email address, no later than 24 hours after confirmation (during this time we may check them). Reviews containing links or contact details, and all photos, are checked before publication. The ‘Verified purchase’ label appears only on reviews whose author sent us proof of purchase of this product and where we confirmed the purchase at Ambit or at another wholesaler. Other reviews are not checked for a purchase. The average includes all published reviews, verified and unverified. We do not pay for reviews and we do not remove reviews because they are negative. We prepare translations of reviews ourselves and mark them; the original is always available. Details: Review terms.
