Modular metal roof tiles: traditional designs, grooves and starter edges

Modular metal roof tiles

Modular metal roof tiles are sheets of metal pressed into a roof tile pattern. This is one of the most widely used roof coverings, for several reasons. Metal roof tile sheets are lightweight and attractively priced. They also come in many vivid, glossy colours, making it easy to match them to the façade, windows or fence colour. We offer many types of roof tile made from strong steel. Alongside traditional designs, we sell models with distinctive shapes. Choosing metal roof tiles cut to size makes roof installation particularly quick and efficient.

What is the quality of rainwater running off a roof covered with metal roof tiles?

There is another advantage to modular metal roof tiles. Roofs covered with this material work very well as part of a rainwater collection system. Rainwater quality is assessed in part by analysing the concentration of total suspended solids. These consist of pollutants from various sources, including the roof itself. They include heavy metal ions, ammonia and coliform bacteria. Substances in the water enter drains and the ground, causing microbiological contamination.

Research by staff at the universities of life sciences in Wrocław and Lublin has clearly shown that the roof covering affects the quantity and size of suspended solids in rainwater. The pollutant concentration in runoff from roofs covered with metal roof tiles or roofing felt is lower by a factor of more than 2 than in runoff from roofs covered with clay tiles. Modular metal roof tiles are therefore a good choice if you plan to store rainwater running off buildings.
