Choosing roof tiles is not easy. Each type has a different shape, size or colour. The raw material is also important. Depending on the material used, tiles have different properties, weights and durability. So how should you choose tiles for your roof?

How to choose a covering for your roof type

A roof covering protects the building from rain and snow, wind, dirt and intruders for many years. The structure determines not only safety but also the appearance of the whole building. Make each roofing decision rationally and without rushing. Most covering manufacturers provide the installation parameters recommended for their products. Remember that roof tiles cannot be installed on a flat roof. However, if there is even a slight slope, you can use metal tile-effect roofing. On a steep roof, water runs off faster and leaks are less likely. The greater the roof pitch, the wider the choice of roof tiles.

Which roof tiles are suitable?

Concrete and clay tiles are used on roofs with a pitch of at least 10°. Some tiles require a steeper pitch, such as 15° or even 30°. It is useful to know that profiled tiles are more watertight than flat tiles. For these tiles, the roof pitch should start at 22°. Non-interlocking plain tiles are intended for the steepest roof slopes and require a pitch greater than 30°.
